Gap year travel with Eurostar may be more budget-friendly

Setting out on a gap year travel adventure may work out to be more budget-friendly for those hostel-staying travelers who choose to begin their journey on Eurostar.

This is because the European rail company has taken the step to abolish all call centre fees to its UK center.

In addition, credit card charges remain unhidden and are at a lower rate than for airlines, while bookings made using a debit card will still be free.

Nick Mercer, commercial director at Eurostar commented: "We're scrapping the fee for booking through our British call centre in order to give travelers even better value and service.

"The costs levied by credit card companies are out of our control and we are having to pass these on, but we want travelers to have the choice of avoiding extra charges and thus all debit card bookings will remain free."

Eurostar was recently named one of the top train brands of this year in Superbrands UK's list.
