Free ski offer 'great news' for winter holidaymakers
A special offer allowing air passengers to take their skis onto the plane for free has been welcomed by the Ski Club of Great Britain.
Ryanair recently announced that any passenger booking a flight before midnight on Thursday (1st October 2009) will be permitted to take their skis on board free of charge.
Betony Garner, a spokesperson for the Ski Club of Great Britain, said the offer could make a major difference for people planning a budget-friendly ski break, particularly as ski accommodation can sometimes be expensive.
She explained: "It's helpful for skiers who are trying to go skiing on a budget and it is a reaction to the fact that other airlines are charging for baggage.
"Anything that will make skiing cheaper is really beneficial because it is becoming really expensive to take equipment onto a flight."
Ryanair currently offer flights from seven UK airports to popular skiing destinations in Austria, Italy and France.
