Enjoy six weeks of Brooklyn Sunday festivals during student travel
Six consecutive Sundays of free festivals await hostel-staying backpackers in New York looking to keep cool.
Yesterday (12th July 2009) marked the first in the season of hip Pool Parties, which this year are held at the riverfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The free afternoon of fun draws an eclectic crowd and will now continue every Sunday until 30th August 2009, with the music and entertainment kicking off at 14:00 (local time) and continuing until 20:00.
Highlights of next week's event include sets from music combo Dirty Projectors, indie musicians Crystal Antlers and the unique roots and country sounds of Magnolia Electric Co.
Travelers who have a little time left over to explore the rest of Brooklyn may wish to make their way to the Brooklyn Museum.
Coney Island is also worth exploring with clues to its long-lost reputation during the 1900s as the playground of the rich and famous in evidence.
