Edinburgh's Gathering festival unveiled
Travelers intending to head up to Scotland in July may wish to drop in on the Gathering Highland Games Scottish festival taking place in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park.
The two-day extravaganza will be held on 25th July 2009 until 26th July 2009 and will feature music from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Douglas MacLean as well as appearances by authors Alexander McCall Smith and Diana Gabaldon.
Other highlights include clan parades, arts, craft and food fairs, Highland dancing events, piping and a genealogy center.
Director of the Gathering 2009 Lord Sempill commented: "This is not just a gathering of clans from across the world, this is a celebration of our culture that families from across Scotland can enjoy too, and this is reflected in the different activities and events in Holyrood Park which will appeal to all ages."
Marie Christie, project director of Homecoming Scotland 2009, added that the event is set to be one of the most-anticipated of the 300 events that form the Homecoming 2009 program.
Travelers may also wish to book their hostels for an extra day to spend time marveling at the many national institutions and historic buildings in the beautiful Scottish capital city.
