Dublin to host Book Festival
Backpackers will be able to enjoy a free program of events in Dublin celebrating the humble book.
The Dublin Book Festival takes place from 6th March 2009 until 8th March 2009 and is expected to draw locals as well as travelers enjoying a hostel-staying break in the Irish capital.
Organized by the CLE, the Irish Book Publishers' Association, the festival will be held in Dublin's City Hall.
Themes of the festival include a discussion on the future of children's publishing in Ireland, which features CLE president Michael O'Brien and children's author Siobhan Parkinson.
In a ceremony presented by author of the Alfie Green series Joe O'Brien, a special edition of Linda Moller's The Great Pig Escape will be launched on the first day of the festival.
Meanwhile, backpackers will be able to exercise their poetic aspirations in a workshop taught by Medbh McGuckian.
Readings by Jack Harte, Caroline Williams and Dermot Bolger are among the rest of the weekend's highlights.
The fifth annual Seachtain na Gaeilge Irish Language Books Promotional Campaign will also be taking place in Dublin from 3rd March 2009 until 17th March 2009.
