Croatia travel hotspot for 2009

Croatia travel hotspot for 2009Travelers are looking to Croatia for great value trips abroad, particularly ideal for backpackers on a budget.

The country has a wealth of historical attractions, stunniing beaches and very reasonable hostels, which all combine to make it a great option for those planning their next trip abroad.

Abta - The Travel Association predicts that Croatia will be one of the top destinations for travelers in 2009 due to its non-Eurozone status that means it is a cheaper option to western Europe.

Steve Barnes, senior membership marketing manager at Abta, commented: "Croatia's great value for money as well, and they're doing things like flotilla holidays now, which are very popular as well."

He added that a flotilla holiday allows backpackers to charter a boat or be a member of crew on a vessel and travel with a group of other boats, which often moor on the beach and throw parties.

According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, over 170,000 individuals from overseas as well as within the country made Croatia their travel destination during December 2008.
