Book today or tomorrow on Spirit Airlines for $3 gap year travel

Travelers looking to set off on a trip across the Americas may wish to take advantage of Spirit Airline's $3 a flight offer.

It is available today (7th July 2009) and tomorrow (8th July 2009) and is likely to appeal to backpackers on a budget who want to keep costs down by staying in hostels.

The low-cost airline, which flies from a number of US cities including Detroit, Atlantic City and Fort Lauderdale, operates along a number of routes.

Latin America, the Bahamas and the Caribbean are some of the destinations the airline flies to.

Spirit's senior director of consumer marketing Bobby Schroeter commented: "Airlines that hide the price of sodas and other fees in the fare are fooling passengers into paying $150 more for services they may not even want or need.

"If you want to purchase a soda onboard Spirit, we give you that option. But it surely won't cost you $150."
