Backpacking with Air Canada made easier
Backpackers may be interested to learn that Air Canada has become the only north American airline to launch a new software application, which could prove useful to travelers.
The resource works by enabling passengers to use an Apple iPhone or iPod touch device to carry out pre-flight tasks and will soon carry an option to check-in and extract details about Air Canada services.
Other tools that will eventually be offered include flight information tracking, alerts to any itinerary changes and a program so passengers can obtain boarding passes electronically.
Ben Smith, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, commented: "Air Canada continues to be an industry leader in offering customers mobile and wireless services that provide real-time information and convenient functions for people who are on the move."
The news comes soon after Air Canada's announcement this week (18th August 2009) that it will increase the number of seats and expand its flights to encompass 49 destinations.
