Air Berlin to reduce fuel surcharge

Air Berlin announced yesterday (22nd January 2009) that it will be reducing its surcharge from 27th January 2009.

The airline explained that it was making the price change in response to the reduced cost of purchasing fuel.

Budget travelers intending to stay in hostels in Berlin will now be able to make further savings on flights.

According to the Guardian, Berlin is popular among travelers drawn to the art galleries in the Auguststrasse district in Mitte and the museums in the historic Museumsinsel. Backpackers on a budget may find the city has much to offer without breaking the bank.

Although the surcharge on internal and pan-European flights has been reduced by €5 to €10 the biggest savings can be made by those flying longer distances.

Medium-haul travelers will receive a €10 reduction taking their surcharge to €25 and those booking long-haul flights will see a €15 cut in fuel surcharge.
