
You might be in Sharm al-Sheikh enjoying its world-famous
diving breaks, but a visit to Egypt is not complete without having a look at the collection housed in the Egyptian Museum.
Located in Cairo, this museum has more than 120,000 objects on display.
These include the world-famous artefacts from the tombs of kings and members of the royal families of the Middle Kingdom, found at Dahshur in 1894.
These include the contents of the royal tombs of Tuthmosis III, Tuthmosis IV, Amenhotep III and Horemheb and the tomb of Yuya and Thuya.
If you are interested in ancient Egyptian jewellery, there is an entire collection devoted to it, which has on display harmonious forms and colour combinations that were used at the time.
Then, of course, there are hundreds of ancient sculptures on display, including the colossal statue of Tutankhamen.
So make sure you make the journey from Sharm al-Sheikh to Cairo, to enjoy some of the greatest treasures of the ancient world.
