The city of New York is the most popular tourist destination in the US, according to research by Global Insight.
Backpacking and luxury visitors continually flocking to the Big Apple has finally knocked Orlando in Florida from its former top spot in the top 100 US cities chart.
Following close behind Orlando in third place was Las Vegas, followed by Los Angeles and Chicago in fourth and fifth place respectively.
The figures also showed that New York is increasing its international appeal, attracting 3.3 percent more tourists than the previous year.
New York is popular for its world renowned landmarks which include the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Center.
However, tourists could soon be marvelling at another impressive site, after it emerged that three designs have been submitted for a new skyscraper on Manhattan's 1950's bus terminal.
