
Paris hotels the most popular in Europe so far this year, according to research.
Paris in France just pipped Budapest in Hungary to the top spot, while tourists fell out of favour with costly accommodation across the rest of the continent.
According to figures from TRI Hospitality Consulting, profits at hotels in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany and London in the UK all suffered.
TRI managing director Jonathan Langston, said that the fall in profits needed to be seen in context.
He told Travel Mole: "Last year represented a high watermark for international travel and Europe enjoyed the lions share of arrivals."
However, it is also possible that more travelers are opting for cheaper accommodation, such as hostels and camping, in light of the continued financial pressure.
