Tourists making their way to Beijing for the Olympics may still be able to bag an accommodation bargain, it has been revealed.
Hotel prices have reportedly been slashed by as much as 30 per cent in the run up to next month's Games, reports CNN.
According to Fan Runjun, an employee at the travel website Ctrip.com, cuts have been made because there has been less demand for rooms than expected.
While many tourists will no doubt feel it is too late to take advantage of the price cuts,
backpacking sports fans already in China may well seize the opportunity to be in the centre of the Olympic throng.
Reports suggest that some hotels may cost as little as 400 yuan (around $60) per night.
However, one hotel public relations manager, Luo Qiong, doubts "things will get any better, even with the rate cut".
