It's always been a dilemma in the summer the relaxing glass of wine or the cooling ice cream?
A problem no longer however, as New York State has begun selling wine-flavoured ice cream.
This cool confectionery is not for the kids though; governor David A Paterson has legalised the manufacture and sale of the ice cream, but only if consumers show ID to prove they are over 21 when they buy a cone
er
or a glass.
"We have a responsibility in government to enact laws that make our state a better place to live and work," Governor Paterson said in a statement.
Flavours include Peach White Zinfandel, Red Raspberry Chardonnay and Cherry Merlot and each have a five per cent alcohol content.
The sponsors of the legalisation bill, assemblyman William Magee and senator Joseph Griffo, said: "There is no doubt that with the passage of this bill there will be no more whining for wine ice cream."
