Australia has announced key changes to its working holiday visa program for
backpacking tourists.
New legislation will give travelers that have worked in the construction industry in the country for the first three months of their stay the option of extending their visit.
The working visa entitles those aged between 18 and 30 years old to live, travel and work in the country for a year.
However, new amendments announced on July 2nd will mean that holidaygoers that have been awarded a working visa will get the chance to stay a little longer.
Senator Chris Evans said: "This measure will further boost the number of people coming to Australia on working holiday visas to work, play and spend money.
"We are seeing a record backpacker program this year, which is great for businesses, especially in regional Australia, and good news for Australias tourism industries."
According to the Australian Visa Bureau, the country offers tourists a wide array of job options when they travel down under, from bar work to farm hand.
