A popular tourist attraction has been stolen from Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver, Canada.
The Photo Session bronze statue has been missing since Friday, June 27th, and the robbery has been labelled "ridiculous" by the local police.
Theft of the statue, which authorities suspect was stolen to be sold for scrap, follows what has been referred to as a "proliferation" of metal theft in the Vancouver area.
Vancouver police spokesperson Constable Tim Fanning told the Globe and Mail: "It's just absolutely terrible that people would go out and steal this, we believe, to sell for scrap metal to get cash."
Backpacking tourists may well need to do a bit of sightseeing of a different kind by keeping a keen eye out for the statue to help police with enquiries rather than for a photo opportunity.
However, until it is located, tourists will have to make do with the three other life-like figures that make up the Photo Session sculpture.
