Poland's capital of Krakow will celebrate the country's traditional musical heritage at the end of July at the annual Crossroads Festival.
With 2008 being the celebration of the event's 10th anniversary,
backpacking tourists passing through will be in for a cultural treat.
Taking place in the fantastic surroundings of Krakow's main market square, the Crossroads or Rozstaje festival is a celebration of folk, jazz and other traditional influences.
This year's event will kick off on July 24th and continues day and night until July 27th.
While traditional music heralding from countries along the Carpathian mountain range is the staple, performances have tended to be more experimental in recent years.
So for a backpacker keen on something a little bit different on their trip away, the Crossroads festival could be the ideal medicine.
Previous concerts have seen stars from the surrounding regions such as Kocani Orkestar from Macedonia as well as Poland's own Joanna Slowinska.
