The Sex and the City blockbuster is an added incentive for many tourists visiting New York, according to the Association of Independent Travel Agents (AITO).
New York is not just the home to Sex and the City, however.
NYCvisit.com notes that there are as many as 40,000 location shoots for films and TV programmes annually.
This means that
backpacking tourists are never far away from some famous Hollywood spot.
Derek Moore, chairman of AITO, notes that Sex and the City highlights what an ideal short break destination New York is.
He said: "Sex and the City will remind people that New York is an ideal short break destination and will have a positive impact on the city's tourism industry.
"The strength of the pound against the dollar offers tourists good value at the moment, adding an extra incentive to visit."
However, good value for money and TV fame are just some of the big apple's many attractions.
According to NYCvisit.com, the average temperature reaches 29 degrees C and there are more than 18,000 different restaurants in New York, many of which are surprisingly well-priced.
