Ski resorts in Victoria, Australia will be struggling for snow at the start of one of its peak seasons next week.
While
student travel groups will be preparing to take advantage of Victoria's alpine piste during the school holidays, forecasters have delivered an unwelcome surprise, only capable of promising a smattering of snow.
Senior forecaster at the Bureau of meteorology, Richard Clayton, told the Age that keen skiers in Australia will have to wait another year for the most lucrative snow fall.
He said: "On Thursday we are likely to see scattered snow showers but it won't be a big dump of snow.
"Normally June is not the most productive month for snow - July and August are the best months."
However, there is an alternative for snow-loving tourists, as resorts are investing in upgrades for their ski fields, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The country's largest ski field alone is adding 34 additional snow guns to its snow gun fleet to ensure that tourists suffer minimal upset.
