A wildlife center in the US that treats and rehabilitates ill and injured sea turtles is proving a big hit among tourists in the region.
The Georgia Sea Turtle Centre on Jekyll Island has attracted more than 120,000 visitors in its first year.
Whether it's a solitary backpacker or
student travel group on an educational trip, the opportunity to see these rare and endangered animals up close draws crowds from far and wide.
The center's staff veterinarian, Terry Norton, hopes that the experience teaches visitors about the dangers posed to turtles by human activities.
Around 1,000 rare loggerhead sea turtles nest along the Georgia State coastline each year, where many come into contact with fish nets and boats.
The center runs a range of educational programs as well as special tours, catering for all kinds of guests.
