Cheap
hostels and thriving market bazaars of Marrakech in Morocco are proving too much to resist for the modern day budget traveler, one expert has claimed.
Nick Leach of Pierre and Vacances Property Investments notes that there has been a "phenomenal" increase in visitors to the north African country's second city.
He said: "All of the Moroccans we have spoken to are really excited about the potential of their country's tourism industry."
Morocco's King Mohammed VI has invested substantially in tourist developments in a bid to attract more than ten million tourists per year by 2010.
Meanwhile, Marrakech recently gained new significance among fashionistas, where legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent recently had his ashes scattered in the Majorelle Garden.
The botanical gardens were said to be an inspiration for the eccentric designer, who died earlier this month aged 71.
