Selecting
gap year travel activities that could be used to support future employment can help make a young tourist's "CV look stronger", one expert has claimed.
According to research adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Vanessa Robinson, thinking about gap year choices in terms of your CV "can only be a positive".
More than three quarters (76 per cent) of gap year tourists organise a part of their travel volunteering with a company, a survey by Year Out Group has found.
Ms Robinson remarks: "If you can make your CV look stronger as opposed to just neutral, having just had a year off, that can only help.
She also suggests that volunteering and even setting up a business in a remote place are all potential positive options for the gap year traveler.
The Gap Year Group survey also shows that the number of women doing volunteer or placement work during their gap year outweighs the number of men by 18 per cent.
