A small village on Turkey's Gallipoli Peninsula is one of the world's up-and-coming destinations for
diving breaks, it has been revealed.
In fact, the interest in Guneyli village near the Gulf of Saroz has been so profound that one expert has claimed that the village's infrastructure is struggling to cope.
However the founder of the Kadikoy Underwater Center, Savas Yapman, also claims that the popularity has the potential to revive the regions economy.
He told Turkish Daily News: "The harbor in Guneyli should be deepened and its main road needs to be rerouted."
"These two things will be enough at least for first stage of development."
One of the reasons suggested for Guneyli's growing popularity could be that it is easily accessible from Istanbul, reports the newspaper.
Aside from diving the Gulf of Saroz, or Turkey's Red Sea as it is affectionately known, is also popular for fishing.
