Backpacking tourists will now have better access to Durban in South Africa, following Emirates Airline's decision to increase flights to the city.
The carrier's announcement follows a successful services operation launch in Cape Town. The airline will make additions to its Durban service from key locations in December 2008.
According to the carrier's president, Tim Clark, the new flights would help meet "escalating demand for air travel" to South Africa.
"Our flights will provide travelers from key cities in Europe, the Indian sub-continent and Middle East a direct access to Durban and will strengthen inbound tourist arrivals," he added.
Meanwhile, Durban's provincial officials have started a push to provide more budget and bed & breakfast accommodation in time for the 2010 World Cup tournament.
