
A hiking trail in Philadelphia, US is to get a major makeover in a bid to boost tourism, it has been revealed.
The 130-mile long Philadelphia to Pottsville trail will have signposts added and improvements made to its website to increase the number of travelers taking
hiking breaks and staying in
hostels along the route.
Some $735,000 in funding has been provided by the William Penn Foundation.
The route, which will also include a bike trail, will run the entire length of the Schuylkill River when it is finally completed.
But while the area is receiving its hiking makeover, there are a great many other past-times, including fishing, paddling and horseback riding to keep visitors entertained.
Meanwhile, for hikers visiting the US that just cant afford to wait, there is the annual Great Saunter - a 32-mile walk around the outer edge of Manhattan Island in New York, taking place on May 3rd.
