Hong Kong-based airline Oasis has suspended operations after announcing bankruptcy this morning.
The low-cost carrier, which connects Hong Kong to destinations including Sydney, Vancouver and Berlin, has stopped taking bookings and advised passengers to seek alternative travel.
All flights have been cancelled, with the airline citing competition in the airline market and high fuel costs as reasons for its decision.
The Hong Kong government is currently working with the airline to help travellers find alternative routes, secretary for transport and housing Eva Cheng explained.
She told a press conference in the Chinese province that students on vacation could potentially be affected by the decision.
Demand for flights to London could be high, though all Oasis passengers travelling to Vancouver should be accommodated by other airlines, Ms Cheng added.
