
City breaks to Eastern European destinations are a lot cheaper than traditional western ones, one industry expert has revealed.
Manager of Fregata Travel, Tim Campbell also notes that the emerging popularity of Eastern Europe among
backpacking traveler's could be a result of the desire to "do something different".
Research by the Post Office indicated that an increase in travelers seeking alternative budget destinations could see boost in the popularity of eastern European destinations.
Mr Campbell added that reduced costs in Eastern Europe apply to all aspects of the tourist experience.
He said: "This applies to the hotels, the eating out and the entrance fees.
"The whole lot is going to cost you a bit less than it would for more traditional Western European destinations."
Meanwhile, the Ernst & Young Global Real Estate Centre US Lodging Report has suggested that the US could see an increase in the number of foreign tourists because of the weakness of the dollar.
