Eurostar is celebrating after thousands of passengers travelling through the refurbished St Pancras International terminal helped make for a record volume of traffic.
The rail network, which offers a quick route to France, Belgium and beyond, is expecting to break more records this weekend as the Easter period gets underway.
Thanks to the restored St Pancras International, Eurostar is predicting 160,000 travellers will be on board as it forecasts a 20 per cent increase on the previous year.
Simon Montague, director of communications at Eurostar, said: "We're really pleased that our fabulous new station, the UK's first 186mph line and journeys of roundly two hours to the centre of Brussels and Paris are attracting record numbers of passengers.
"Since Eurostar moved to St Pancras International, more and more people are realising Eurostar is easier, quicker and greener than flying."
Getaways to European cities have become increasingly popular for travellers looking to snap up a hotel for a weekend, while Eurostar's champagne bar and hassle-free boarding has attracted a range of passengers.
