Trips that take in more than one country are proving increasing popular with tourists, new research suggests.
Figures from key2holidays suggests that inspired by backpackers, a number of tourists are choosing to visit multiple destinations during one trip.
A new trend of "country collecting" is emerging, with destinations such as the Far East no longer the preserve of gap year travelers, explained the firm's product director Matthew Rushbrooke.
"We believe this trend is a result of several factors including improved air services offering better connections between regions, time-poor travelers wanting to see and do more on their holiday and the boom in experience travel that has spread across many types including honeymoons," he said.
Popular multi-country travel itineraries include breaks to Dubai and the Maldives, trips to Singapore and Bali, as well as holidays to Mauritius and South Africa.
