Backpackers planning an activity holiday should make sure they choose a travel insurance policy with sufficient cover, one expert has advised.
Travelers should make a note before setting off of what activities they are likely to take part in while overseas, explained Graeme Trudgill from the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).
The technical and corporate affairs executive suggested that activity holidays are proving increasingly popular and to ensure they are protected, travelers must plan ahead.
"If you are going on a beach holiday, you might be doing some paragliding there. If so, make sure you are covered for that and try and get a policy that does not charge any extra," the Biba representative added.
"If you are going to New Zealand and you are going to be doing bungee jumping, make sure you have a policy that can protect you there."
"The key thing is to have a think about what you want to do on holiday and then speak to your broker," he concluded.
