Following recent outbreaks of violence in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa, the foreign office has decided to issue a warning over travel to the country.
A curfew is currently in place after a spate of deaths, but rail and air connections to the city are still operational, and so the foreign office has decided against advising people not to travel to Tibet.
The foreign office website stated that there is no indication of foreigners being targeted in the violence, but there is the chance that people could be caught up within it.
"You are advised to avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and avoid unnecessary movement within the city until the situation is under control," was the advice given.
This runs in opposition to the Australian government, which advised on its website that individual should "reconsider your need to travel to Lhasa".
