The city of Shanghai in China will not increase its city tourism entry fees, officials have announced.
China's tourism industry has begun to recover following snow that disrupted visitor arrivals in southern and central regions in the last month of the Spring Festival.
However, some of the country's most famous sights are putting up prices on tourist attractions in a bid to recoup lost funds from the snow chaos.
The Huangshan and Jiuhuashan Mountains, for example, have upped entry fees by between 65 and 200 Yuan, reports CCTV.com.
However, according to the Oriental Morning Post, senior officials at the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission have stated that they have no plans to increase prices in Shanghai.
This will come as good news to those
backpacking around China ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games, which is expected to drive tourism prices up even further.
Guotai Jun'an Securities analyst Chen Xiwei, told the Beijing Youth Daily that the Huangshan Tourism Development company is expected to increase annual profits by more than 40 million Yuan with the price hike.
