
Mexico will make history this weekend when it hosts the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship for the first time.
Saturday sees Oleg Maskaev from Kazakhstan and Samuel Peter from Nigeria top the bill in the famous Mexican tourist hotspot, when they meet to contest the world title.
Marking the first time the championship has been held in Mexico, the event will also see a number of famous boxers on the undercard, including Jose Luis Castillo, John Ruiz and Nate Campbell.
Staged in the Cancun Bullring, organisers are expecting a sell-out crowd, with budget travellers and luxury guests expected to be in attendance given a ticket pricing range from $10 to $2,000.
Built specifically for travellers, Cancun sits on the shores of the Caribbean Sea at the north-eastern tip of Mexicos scenic Yucatan Peninsula.
First settled by the Mayan civilisation 3,000 years ago, it is now an idyllic location of white sandy beaches, beautiful hotels and a hive of activity.
