Tourists keen on going green can choose to travel across 30 European countries by train, one expert has claimed.
Gap year travel has taken off in the UK over the last few years, with Gapyear.com estimating that 230,000 18-24-year-olds traverse the globes' continents each year.
But with concern surrounding the environmental cost of air travel rising, STA travel recommends concerned
gap year travel goers make use of InterRailing around Europe.
A spokesperson commented: "Travelling by rail allows you to enjoy the freedom of totally flexible green travel around up to 30 countries in Europe.
"Choose to focus one country from just £24, or pick a Global pass to experience more than one country in your trip from £115."
But STA Travel also encourages travellers to book overnight trains to ensure that the most can be made of time in a destination.
