Increasing interest in family holiday breaks has seen a growth in destinations such as New York, according to one industry expert.
The high entertainment value of destinations cities like New York provide the perfect entertainment for all members of the family, said Ted Walker, sales and marketing director of Kirker Holidays.
The average spending of British families abroad was £837 for a summer holiday in 2007, but an exiting trip on a city break needn't be expensive, Insure & Go reveals.
Mr Walker said: "No teenage girl can fail to be excited about the prospect of going to Central Park to drink a cup of coffee [at the site of] the Friends set.
"With a little bit of imagination and the help of an expert tour operator, there's a real opportunity for families to plan some fascinating, highly entertaining, but also educational city breaks," he added.
The Big Apple received an estimated 8.5 million visitors from overseas in 2007, underlining its continued popularity among tourists, according to a report by the New York Bureau.
