Ghana is hoping to market itself as a 'chocolate tourism' destination, it has been revealed.
The country's tourist authorities have even designated Valentine's Day as a National Chocolate day for the second year running, under the theme 'Chocolate: a gift of love and health'.
To celebrate the country's chocolate-producing prowess, 75 trained chefs are putting on a exhibition of chocolate pastries at the country's National Theatre in Accra on Valentine's Day, reports Public Agenda.
Minister for tourism, Stephen Asamoah Boateng explained that the event was an opportunity for Ghanaians to show their chocolate-producing pride to the world.
Just as Asia is popular for its tea, Ghana needs to embrace its chocolate tourism potential, he added.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the African Nations Cup, with hosts Ghana set to meet Nigeria in the quarter-finals on February 3rd 2008 as the tournament moves into the knock-out stages.
