Early in the year is the best time for honeymooners to book to get the best deals, according to hitched.co.uk.
However, booking flights well in advance allows other things such as
flashpackinghostels in New York or Rome or
ski accommodation "as and when things become available".
A spokesperson for the free engagement, marriage and honeymoon advice website explained that it's popular to book honeymoons all year round, "but January is particularly busy because of special offers".
She said: "Any time is popular to book your honeymoon, but January is particularly busy because of special offers, deals and packages that become available in the New Year."
"You could do your flights a year in advance when they become available to book, and then
book your hotel or different parts of the holiday you can add to it as and when things become available."
Taking time over preparation is key according to magazine Bride to Be, as it provides a much needed relaxation after often stressful wedding preparations.
