Visiting film sets is becoming an increasingly popular backpacker past-time, according to Gapyear.com.
The new "set-jetting" craze, as it has been dubbed, has seen the
backpacking and
Student Travel imagination caught by films such as Koh Toa, where The Beach was set.
Founder of Gapyear.com, Tom Griffiths, has noticed a great deal of destinations benefit from the popularity of films.
"Zealand for Lord of the Rings is popular and Madagascar is another one that has benefited."
Mintel Gap Year Reports indicate that the market is one of the fastest growing tourist sectors, with an estimated UK outbound value of £2.2 billion.
However, Mr Griffiths also noted that cheap destinations such as South Korea remain top of the gappers agenda.
"Mainly because Korean Airlines have some amazing deals out to Australia so the option to stop off in Seoul has been one that quite a few people have taken."
