The small Indian village of Hessargatta near Bangalore is offering ecotourism with a twist for foreign and domestic tourists alike.
Perhaps surprisingly, the opportunity to experience rural Indian traditions and live in an eco-friendly environment has proven particularly popular among the country's urbanites.
Ram Kumar, who came up with the idea for the village, told the BBC World Service that many Indian city dwellers are often entirely shocked by the farm animals they look after on their holiday.
He said: "It's great having these farm animals, because for the urbanites - there are lots of people who looked at the turkey and said, 'what is that?'"
For international tourists, the opportunity to experience traditional Indian culture in a purpose-built farm no doubt has widespread appeal.
The pond-style swimming pool is particularly innovative, with the water kept clean with aquatic plants rather than filters.
India has been criticized for its environmental policy in the past, but last week pledged to enhance bilateral technological cooperation with China to address issues.
