Romantics looking for a good travel deal for Valentines Day are in luck, because often cheaper "off the beaten track" destinations are becoming more popular.
Although "old favourites" such as Paris, Rome, Venice and Vienna are in demand, the modern couple often seeks out something a little bit different, the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) has revealed.
According to a spokesperson for AITO, modern globetrotting couples "want to do something a little bit different".
He said: "Probably in the last few years... Barcelona has certainly grown in popularity.
"Reykjavik is more of a becoming destination. Marrakech is also doing quite well," he added.
A recent UK survey suggested that British men will spend a total of around £800 million to mark the special day with their partner.
But with the average male expected to spend a mere £44.63 on their significant other, why not splash out on an exiting and enticing cheap trip abroad?
