Travelers keen to cut carbon emissions will now be able to get through-fares on the Eurostar, it has been revealed.
Tourists from 68 other locations around the UK will be able to make international trips around Europe by booking one fare through Eurostar.
Eurostar fares are linked to seven UK train operators, including Virgin Trains, First Capital Connect, National Express East Coast and Chiltern Railway.
A Eurostar spokesman told businessGreen that the new through-fare should serve as a good alternative to short haul flights.
She said: "We launched through fares that you could buy through our call centre last month and we have already seen strong demand."
Return tickets will cost between £67 and £92 and will be available up to 84 days in advance of the journey.
The range of new fares will be extended by operators to other destinations across the UK in the second half of 2008.
