Tourists will soon be able to travel between Cambodia and Thailand under the same visa, it has been revealed.
Thailand's foreign minister and the Cambodian deputy prime minister are set to sign the agreement in Phnom Penh on December 17th.
However, details of when the framework agreement will be implemented have yet to be announced.
It is hoped that the move will boost tourism in both countries once introduced, following the roll out of the proper regulations in each country.
Both Thailand and Cambodia are popular backpacker destinations, with cheap travel and accommodation a big bonus for backpackers and gap year students the world over.
Nguyen Dan Tam, manager of Tropic Tour in Thailand, told Thanhnien News: "Bus tickets to Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand are also very cheap, perhaps the cheapest in the world."
If successful, there are plans to roll-out the single visa across more countries in the region, such as the other Acmecs countries Burma, Laos and Vietnam.
