Rwanda is to add cave tourism to the traveler itinerary, according to reports.
The country has already made a name for itself as one of the only places in the world home to the critically endangered Mountain Gorilla, but is hoping to expand its tourist appeal with this latest offering.
Cave tourism is becoming an increasingly popular travel activity, allowing visitors to explore a county's unique geology and history.
According to the East African Business Weekly, 40 million tourists visit cave resorts in China every year.
In anticipation of the increase in tourist numbers, the director general of Rwanda's national tourist body, Rosette Rugamba, pledged to build seven new hotels.
"We made a promise to our visitors that we shall uplift the levels of our accommodation," she told the newspaper.
With bird watching introduced as a travel attraction in September, Rwanda is set to improve its tourism revenue, which is currently its third-biggest currency exchange earner.
