Scandinavian Aircraft Systems (SAS) is set to introduce a self-print boarding pass across UK airports, it has been revealed.
Passes will allow passengers to check-in up to 22 hours before a flight, check-in luggage at a self-service facility and proceed straight to airport security, reports TravelMole.
Customers at London Heathrow, London City, Aberdeen, Birmingham and Manchester will be the first to benefit from the initiative.
Lars-Ove Filipson, general manager UK & Ireland, said: "This new service will help to streamline the airport experience for both our leisure and business customers."
This follows the launch of mobile boarding cards by Spanair and Vodaphone on flights between Madrid and Bilbao.
By the end of the year, Spanair hopes to roll out the technology for use on all of its domestic routes.
When printing the new self-print boarding pass, SAS customers will also get the chance to switch seats, or the class of their travel.
