MasterCard have launched a new Travel Card that looks set to make holiday purchases a lot easier.
It is hoped the card, which is being aimed at families, international and student travelers, will make transactions in multiple countries more efficient and less hassle than exchanging cash.
In particular, the card could serve overseas spenders very well at this festive time of year, with overseas shopping becoming increasingly popular among consumers.
The card will be available for purchase in Airlines Reporting Corporation's (ARC) member travel agencies and can have up to $9,500 (£4,250) made available in the account.
MasterCard vice president of prepaid sales and issuer development, Mike Brunner, told Marketing Daily that the new card provides peace of mind.
He explained that the Travel Card differed from a credit card in that it provided travelers with the option of imposing a stricter budget, which could be of particular use to gap year travelers, or big spending Christmas shoppers.
"Consumers are looking for a travel card product that is all about convenience and peace of mind," he said.
