Ski resorts across Europe have opened early following the premature arrival of snow, it has been revealed.
Research by The Cooperative Travel and independent agents Travelcare also indicates that, as a result, prices have fallen by as much as £100 per person.
According to the agent, Italy has enjoyed the biggest falls in prices, down 16 per cent on average from £710 to £597 per person.
This is closely followed by Bulgaria, which saw reductions of 13 per cent in its prices, reports Travel Connect.
According to managing director of Cooperative Travel, Mike Greencare, last season's snow fall was "one of the worst on record".
He said: "Artificial snow cannons [were] being used to generate enough snow, especially in more low lying areas."
As a result ski resorts have significantly increased in popularity, with Mr Greencare adding that "advance bookings to long-haul destinations have rocketed".
