A man has received an $800 fine from US authorities after trying to smuggle dead snakes and birds on a flight into the country.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service will fine the man following his apprehension by security officers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, reports AP.
He was discovered with around 30 dead snakes, one dead bird and several other parts of dead birds in his luggage.
The man was flying from South Korea to Atlanta on August 15th when he was apprehended.
The aptly named Darwin Huggins, and Wildlife agent in charge of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, gave his take on events.
He said: "They're typically used in traditional Chinese or Asian medicine.
"Some of the snakes had scorpions in their mouths. And they were preserved in wine. It's a medicinal type wine that certain cultures drink."
