Bangladeshi officials have imposed a curfew in the capital, Dhaka, to halt violence between students and police.
Three days of violence were sparked on Monday night when a student was attacked following protests against the presence of soldiers at a football match, ITN reports.
With 300 people injured and one killed in the clashes, the government has imposed the curfew as well as closing universities in Dhaka and five other cities.
As the 40,000-strong campus at Dhaka University lies deserted, interim government chief Fakhruddin Ahmed has stressed that restrictions will remain until the "conspiracy" of violence comes to an end.
He stated: "The steps taken are temporary measures to protect lives, and public and private properties as vested quarters had started acts of anarchy in Dhaka and other places."
Unrest has reigned in Bangladesh since January, when a military-backed interim administration claimed power.
