Muppet Museum
Atlanta's Center for Puppetry Arts will receive a furry invasion in the next few years, thanks to the opening of the new Henson Wing.
The family of the late Jim Henson, creator of the Muppet Show, has agreed to donate his collection of puppets and artwork to the museum, for the wing's opening in 2012.
Exhibits from the entire Muppet collection, as well as pieces from the films Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, will be shown at the museum on a rotating basis until the entirety of the 700+ collection can be moved into the new wing.
Cheryl Anthony, Jim's daughter and president of the Jim Henson Foundation, confirmed she was "delighted" to showcase her father's work in the museum.
"Many exhibits can only present a small portion of what Jim created and accomplished in his life time," said Vince Anthony, founder of the museum.
"What makes the Center unique is that we can become a living, breathing, evolving representation of Jim Henson's legacy," he added.
Mr Anthony confirmed that exhibits from the 1980s TV series Fraggle Rock will also be on display in Atlanta, following the news that production has begun on a movie version of the show.
