At least 191 people have been killed after a passenger jet crash at Brazil's busiest airport.
The flight from Porto Alegre landed at Sao Paolo in torrential rain and skidded across a busy runway yesterday evening (Tuesday July 17th).
The Airbus-32 crashed into a gas station and an airline building, with up to 176 crew and passengers killed by the resultant fire.
A further 15 people are thought to have died on the ground.
Jose Serra, Sao Paolo state governor, told reporters of the extent of the tragedy.
"I was told that the temperature inside the plane was 1,000 degrees (1,830 Fahrenheit), so the chances of there being any survivors are practically nil," he said.
Marcelo Baumbach, a spokesman for the president said that the crash would not be investigated immediately: "The president's worries now are with the victims and the relatives of the victims. That is the main concern."
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has declared three days of national mourning.
